Alton M. "Toby" Fogle

Alton M. “Toby” Fogle, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, December 14, 2023, at UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Born August 5, 1936, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late William and Bessie A. (Cromer) Fogle.  Toby was the loving husband of the late Cleo C. (Deal) Fogle with whom he shared 58 years of marriage until her passing on February 4, 2019.

Toby was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Toby was the manager at several service stations and fuel businesses in the Hanover area, including York Street for ten years, Aero Midtown for fourteen years, and Schuchart Oil for six years.  He also owned and operated the Split Rail Restaurant for five years until retiring.

Toby was a member of the Hanover Kiwanis Club, the Hanover YMCA where he served on the capital campaign committee, the Republican Club of Hanover, the Hanover Home Association, and the Hi-Yall Campers Association.

Toby loved golfing, hunting, fixing things and tinkering in his garage.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Toby is survived by two children, Richard R. Fogle and wife Victoria of Hanover, PA, and Theresa L. Haggerty and Husband Scott of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Dana Kieffer, Stephanie McVicker, Benjamin Fogle, Jordan Roscoe, and Colby Haggerty; twelve great-grandchildren, Bently Fogle, Grace Wolf, Hope Arnold, Harper Fogle, Jade Guerin, Liam McVicker, John Kuchtiak, Jackson Roscoe, Bryson Fogle, Korbin Kuchtiak, Kasley Kuchtiak, and Kierani  Kuchtiak.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Zumbrum and Shirley Thomas; two ½ brothers, Edward Newman and Donald Carson: and one ½ sister, June E. Norris.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Toby will be held 4:00PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 3:00-4:00PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the funeral home.
