Benjamin Paul Bortner, 37, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his home.
Born November 11, 1980 in Hanover, PA, he was a son of Dwight B. Bortner and his wife, Lori L. (Chenoweth) and Ann C. (Macdonald) Gilbert and her husband, Daniel R. Ben was the loving husband of Nichole L. (Geigan) Bortner with whom he would have shared thirteen years of marriage in September.
Ben was a member of Hanover Wesleyan Church, Hanover, PA, where he participated in the Men’s’ groups and served on the Church Board.
Ben was a 1999 graduate of Littlestown High School. He received his Associates Degree from H.A.C.C. and his B.S. in computer science from Central Penn Business College. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, serving as a Search and Rescue Swimmer.
Ben was a computer programmer and worked for Mind Over Machines in Owings Mills, MD.
Ben was an extremely hard worker, a spirited, and playful individual. He enjoyed blacksmithing, woodworking, skeet-shooting, being in the outdoors, and especially loved playing soccer with his children.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Nichole, Ben is survived by his children, Alexis, Elijah, Olivia and Isaiah; two brothers, Aaron B. Bortner and Gary L. Gilbert; and a sister, Sarah N. Stich. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gwen L. Kelly.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Ben’s life will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor Jerry Beers officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, July 2, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
