Bertha Jane Berwager, 98, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care Thursday, July 23, 2026, at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home at Utz Terrace, with her loving family by her side.
Born April 25, 1928, in Brodbecks, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Levi and Grace Viola (Rinehart) Runk. Bertha was the loving wife of Woodrow T. Berwager, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage until his passing on February 18, 2005.
Bertha was a devout member of St. Pauls (Dubs) Lutheran Church, and was formerly involved with many church auctions volunteering her time in the kitchen.
She spent her career working as a seamstress for Beach Filter Products, retiring in April 1991 with 26 years of service.
Bertha enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, reading, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Christina G. Berwager of Hanover, PA, Woodrow S. Berwager and wife, Pam of Glenville, PA, Randy G. Berwager and wife, Joanne of Hanover, PA, and Linda L. Chronister and husband, Carl of Hanover, PA; seven grandchildren, Brant Berwager, Bryan Berwager, Brooks Berwager, Brock Berwager and wife, Angie, Brett Berwager and wife, Heather, Sheldon Chronister and wife, Jennifer, and Scott Chronister and wife, Deanna; and 16 great grandchildren, Nathan, Nolan, Noah, Nash, Ella, Eli, Emmye, Easton Chronister, Bria, Branson, Brandon, Ava, Brylee, Braiden, Brexton, and Bruce Berwager.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Martha Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bertha’s honor to St. Pauls (Dubs) Lutheran Church 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
