Bonnie Marie Barry, 66, of New Oxford, PA entered God’s eternal care Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by loving family.
Born, September 18, 1957, in Hanover, PA, Bonnie was a daughter of the late William Dallas Tyler and Georgia Mae (Miller) Tyler.
Bonnie, one of eleven children, was raised on the Tyler family farm in Brodbecks, PA. She graduated from Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock.
Bonnie was a model for a brief time following high school until a car accident in which her jaw was broken, and she was hospitalized for an extended amount of time. Bonnie worked at Hanover House (later Hanover Direct), Delia’s and Utz Quality Foods for several years. She attended Empire Beauty School for cosmetology and worked as a server at many local restaurants in Gettysburg, East Berlin, and Hanover.
Aside from working different jobs over the years, Bonnie was also a talented artist. She enjoyed drawing and painting nature scenes and landscapes, some of which she sold locally. Bonnie also liked to design and draw Christmas cards as a hobby. She loved birdwatching and collecting bird figurines.
Bonnie’s pastimes included playing games and spending time with her sisters, the “Hens” who she continually gathered with weekly for many years up until her death. She loved “kitties” especially her niece Raven’s cat Hoshi, who was present with Bonnie at her death, per her request. She enjoyed shopping and took much pride in having her outfits match her shoes, jewelry, and pocketbooks. She loved spending time with her children “even more than she loved coffee and donuts (which is a lot).”
Bonnie is survived by her two children; Brooke M. Barry of Hanover, PA, and Sean S. Barry and fiancé Jill A. Augustyniak of Mount Joy, PA; one grandson, Hunter E. Updegraff of Hanover, PA,; special niece, Crista “Raven” Zartman of New Oxford, PA; four sisters, Shirley Harris and her husband Haskell, Barbara Curry, Linda Kagarise and her husband Bill, and Patricia Brown and her husband Patrick; two brothers, James “Jim” Tyler and his wife Tanya, and Richard “Ricky” Tyler and his wife Annie; and many other nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by three brothers; David Tyler, William “Bill” Tyler, and Joseph “Joe” Tyler; and her sister Matilda “Tilly” Zartman.
Following cremation, services will be private.
