Bruce B. Rebert, 69, of Seven Valleys, PA, and formerly of Hanover, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, while vacationing with his wife in Potter County, PA.
Born August 26, 1951, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Marian (Gitt) Rebert. Bruce was the loving husband of Julia M. (Baum) Rebert with whom he shared 15 years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Julia, Bruce is survived by two daughters, Jessica K. Rebert Chiliza and husband Bonginkosi Chiliza of Durban, South Africa, Trudy S. Rebert and husband Siddharth Jha of Jackson Heights, NY; sons Dan Parrish of Imperial, PA, Dylan Parrish of New Castle, DE; two grandchildren, Khanyi Chiliza and Toshihiro Jha; siblings Jeff Rebert and wife Sue of Hanover, PA, Sandy Rebert of Hanover, PA, and Doug Rebert and wife Susan of Hillsborough, CA. He was preceded in death by son, Drew Parrish.
Bruce was devoted to making Hanover and York County better for everyone. He received his BA from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California in 1973, and then returned to Hanover. Bruce worked for the Borough of Hanover, for 37 years, including 23 as the Borough Manager. He served on many county and town boards, including serving on the Board of Governors for the Hanover Public Library, the Hanover Day Nursery, and the York County Housing and Community Development Loan Committee. He was an avid golfer, lifelong Oriole’s fan, lover of a good pun, and a voracious reader and student of history. He and Julia enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Key West, South Africa, Italy, and India, among other places.
A gathering to celebrate and remember Bruce will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Gitt Memorial Library, 1927 Broadway, Hanover, PA. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM at the Library. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Bruce to the Hanover Day Nursery, 304 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331, or the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
