Burnell E. Meckley, 96, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at SpiriTrust Lutheran the Village at Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA.
Born December 19, 1927, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Bertus and Lettie (Myers) Meckley. Burnell was the loving husband of the late Janet L. (Folmer) Meckley with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage until her passing on August 2, 2014.
Burnell was a member of New Hope Faith Community Church, Hanover, PA.
Burnell retired from the federal government in 1983, having worked as a supervisor at the New Cumberland Army Depot for 33 ½ years. He owned Meckley’s Antiques for thirty-five years.
Burnell loved camping, antiques, bowling, fishing, and watching the Baltimore Orioles. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Cape May, NJ; and loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
Burnell is survived by his granddaughters, Kari L. Eiker and husband Jason of Littlestown, PA, and Laura A. Wagner and husband Todd of Hanover, PA, four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Makenzie, Austin, and Brynlee; and three siblings, Donald Meckley, Jean Sprenkle, and Roger Meckley. He was preceded in death by three children, an infant daughter, Brenda Meckley, a son, Daryl C. Meckley, and daughter, Lynnette K. Meckley; and nine siblings, Raymond Meckley, Leroy Meckley, Laura Rohrbaugh, Marvin Meckley, Geraldine Klunk, Arlene Wentz, Kathryn Flickinger, Pearl Stagemyer, and Marguerite Nonemaker.
A service to celebrate and remember Burnell will be held 11:30AM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at LCBC Church, 1504 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331, with Taylor Bream officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
