Candy Lynne Yingling

Candy Lynne Yingling, 55, of Gettysburg, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, December 29, 2023, at the WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital.

Born March 6, 1968, in Gettysburg, she was the loving daughter of Sidney Junior., and Nancy Lou (Huff) Yingling.

Candy graduated from Gettysburg High School in the class of 1986. Following high school she attended York College, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Administration, Empasis in Therapeutic Recreation in 1990.

Candy worked as the Director of Life Enrichment at Artis Senior Living in Lemoyne, PA, as a memory care provider. She was passionate about working with and advocating for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia at the local, State and National level. She worked to help families to be better able to care for their loved ones. Candy had previously worked at Homewood at Plum Creek, the Gardens at Gettysburg (previously Beverly Healthcare) and at the Alzheimer’s Association.

In her free time, Candy enjoyed caring for her father and mother, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved caring for others, and people loved her.

Candy was a member of St. David’s (Sherman) United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

In addition to her loving parents Sid & Nancy, Candy is survived by two siblings, her sister Cindy Lou Yingling of New Oxford, PA, and her brother, Craig Yingling and wife Connie of Gettysburg, PA. Candy also leaves behind a niece, Jackie and her husband Ed & children, her nephew Chad, his wife Jen, and their son Henry. Candy is also survived by 3 furry nieces, Sophie, Nellie and Shiloh.

A funeral service to remember and celebrate Candy’s life will be held, 11 AM, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325, with Pastor Scott A. Sager officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Littlestown, PA.
