Carl E. King Obituary

Carl E. King, 69, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Born March 7, 1956, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late William A. and Lydia E. (Myers) King. Carl was the loving husband of Jill L. (Huff) King, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Carl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, PA, and a member of CWV Post #1342 in Bonneauville, PA.

Carl was a proud veteran, having served his country in the United States Air Force.

He began his career as a heavy equipment operator, working for Penn Township for 18 years. He then embarked on a trucking career that spanned more than 30 years—first with STEM Trucking and, most recently, with Estes Express Trucking in York, PA. He also worked part-time at the former Flickinger Printing Company.

Carl enjoyed camping, hunting, motorcycling, building projects, gardening, and especially growing peppers. He was a passionate NASCAR fan, loved vacationing with his family in Myrtle Beach, and had a lifelong love of coin collecting. Carl was also known for his love of coffee—he almost always had a cup close by.

In addition to his loving wife, Jill, Carl is survived by his daughter, Lindsey A. Stover, and her husband, Brandon, of Hanover, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00–11:30 AM at the church prior to the Mass.

Contributions in memory of Carl may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
