Carol A. Rutters

Carol A. Rutters, 78, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at The Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA.

Born November 19, 1946, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late R. Reed and A. Jane (Swartz) Willet.  She was the former companion of the late George W. Miller, Jr., with whom she shared 13 years together.

Carol was a 1964 graduate of South Western High School, Hanover, PA, and received an associate’s degree from York Junior College.  Carol was a secretary for Willet Marine Sales for many years and Hanover Industries.  After retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart.

She also served as a swim instructor for the Red Cross, as a band booster for the South Western High School marching band, and volunteered as a rocking reader at Park Hills Elementary School.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Beth A. Phillips and husband Terry, their three children, Austin Phillips and wife Hailey, Garrett Phillips and Kalista Phillips, as well as George’s three children, Michelle Miller, George W. Miller, III and wife, Nathalie, and Michael D. Miller, and their children Anna, Cora, Ty and wife Catherine, and Tessa, and one great granddaughter Isla.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held, 10:30AM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:30-10:30AM, Saturday, October, 4, 2025, at the funeral home.  All attendees are asked to dress casually.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Brethren Home for the exceptional care they provided to Carol over the past three years.
