Charles C. Hall

Charles C. Hall, 88, formerly of Hanover, PA, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, in the presence of his beloved son and daughter-in-law, who had been his caregivers, and surrounded with the love of his family and friends.

Born August 7, 1935, in Littlestown, PA, Charles (fondly known as Charlie) was the son of the late Charles B. and Josephine (Collins) Hall.  Immediately following his graduation in 1954 at Littlestown High School, Charlie proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served a tour of duty during the Korean War.

Following his military service, Charlie married and he and his former spouse, Faye, had four children together.  Charlie was a loving father to his sons, Kelly, Mark, Joseph, and Douglas.  The family enjoyed many fond memories at the family cabin in Eagles Mere, PA.

Professionally, Charles provided for his family as a builder with his father-in-law, Raymond, and eventually went on to own his own company, Hall Builders, for over 40 years.  Following his self-employment, Charlie then put his talents to service working for the Adams County Housing Authority until 2016 when he finally retired at the age of 81! In his spare time, Charlie was a golfing enthusiast, often taking several trips every year with his golf buddies.  He was proud of his military service and a member of the Littlestown V.F.W.

While Charlie had many responsibilities and roles in his life, his favorite role was being a father and grandfather.  He loved nothing more than going to dinner with his sons, visiting their families, attending his grandchildren’s special events and sports functions. 

Survivors include his sons: Kelly C. Hall and wife Kathy of York, PA, Mark R. Hall of Red Lion, PA, Joseph C. Hall and wife Catherine of Clarksburg, MD, and Douglas J. Hall and wife Samantha of Shrewsbury, PA; grandchildren: Jennifer Calendar, Christine Hall, Kimberly Hall, Jacob Hall, Elizabeth Hall, Samuel Hall and Julia Hall.  He was preceded in death by six siblings.

A funeral service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Chaplain Don Alspaugh officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA., with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Monday, October 30, 2023, at the funeral home.
