Charmaine M. Hood

Charmaine M. Hood, 94, entered God’s eternal care, Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA. 

Born October 22, 1929, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Lillian (Geiman) Funk, and the loving wife of the late Buren J. Waltersdorff, and the late Charles Hood.  Charmaine was the loving companion of the late Robert Langrall, with whom she shared thirty years together.

Charmaine was a 1947 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA.  She worked as a seamstress and bookkeeper for the Singer Sewing Company and various other businesses in the Hanover.

Charmaine was a member of the YWCA Singles Club and Breakfast Club, and she was active with the Hanover Community Players.  She also had the opportunity to be in an off-Broadway play.  Charmaine was  a seamstress like no other!  She could sing, dance and draw. Crewel embroidered works of art.

Charmaine enjoyed playing cards, and she loved doing any type of word and number puzzles. She had a great love for animals.  Especially her cats.  She fed all the neighbors’ cats.

Charmaine is survived by her daughter Lee Ann Miller and husband Scott of Hanover, PA; two grandchildren, Carly Miller-Carbaugh (Benjamin) and Ryan Miller (Ashley); three great-grandchildren, Elijah J. Carbaugh, Elizabeth R. Carbaugh, and Mason E. Miller; and one sister, Nancy Staub.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda May Waltersdorff; and two brothers, David Funk and Burnell Funk.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Charmaine will be held 6:30PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be from 5:30-6:30PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
