Cheryl A. Monty

Cheryl A. Monty, 71, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at her home.

Born March 11, 1952, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herbert R. and Elizabeth P. “Betty” (Weaver) Monty. 

Cheryl was a 1970 graduate of Woodlawn High School, Baltimore, MD.  She worked at the former Nell’s Market in Hanover in the bakery Department for over 11 years.

Cheryl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. 

Cheryl enjoyed getting together with family and friends, gardening, jig-saw puzzles and caring for her cats. She always looked forward to the Monty family Thanksgiving gathering at her Aunt Peggy’s home.

Cheryl is survived by her sister, Linda L. Herr and husband John of Baltimore, MD, two nieces, Julianne Walter and husband Douglas of Bel Air, MD, Heidi Herr and husband Richard Chambers of Baltimore, MD; two great nephews, Jacob Walter and Jason Walter of Bel Air, MD; and her aunt, Margaret “Peggy” Haug and husband Charles of Sykesville, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Msgr. James Lyons as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the church. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Cheryl’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
