Christine L. Alvarez

Christine L. Alvarez, 77, of York, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025. She showed us what it means to be truly strong — not in the absence of pain, but in rising to meet it every day.

Born November 8, 1947, in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Christian T. and Beatrice P. (Miller) Mohr. 

Christine was a 1965 graduate of South Western High School, Hanover, PA.  She retired in 2010 from Sonoco Products, having worked as a quality specialist and other roles for 38 years.

Christine was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.

Christine enjoyed reading, Sudoku, BINGO, word searches, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Christine is survived by her son, Jonathan Alvarez and wife Amanda of Hanover, PA, her son Eric Alvarez and wife Kimberly of York, PA, and her son Brian Alvarez and fiancé Rachael Lipson of Philadelphia, PA; and her grandchildren, Carver and Olivia.

A visitation and time to share memories with the family and friends will be held from 2:00-4:00PM, Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held with close family.

In lieu of flowers, Christine wished that memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army.
