Cindy L. Reese

Cindy L. Reese, 67, of McSherrystown, PA, formerly of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Hershey Medical Center with her loving family by her side. 

Born May 27, 1958, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Norman E. and Norma Jean (Potter) Stambaugh.  She was the loving wife of Mark D. Reese, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.

Cindy was a 1976 graduate of Spring Grove Area School District.  She worked at True North Wellness Services, Inc. at the Amazing Kids Club.  She was a former assistant to Dr. Michael J. Paris, D.P.M., and also worked in the Dementia Unit at Homewood at Plum Creek.  For years she worked as the Humane Officer for the York County S.P.C.A., investigating cruelty for York County.

Cindy was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Hanover, and was a former member of the Board of Directors for the York County S.P.C.A., and as a committee member of the Operation: God Bless America Motorcycle Ride for Veterans, Lebanon, PA.  She was an active volunteer for S.N.O.R.T., Short Noses Only Rescue Team, a member of French Bulldog Village Rescue, and assisted many other rescues.

Cindy loved gardening, and most importantly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.  Her one true love was for animals, and she loved working with many rescues.

In addition to her loving husband Mark, Cindy is survived by daughters, Heather Garvick Hockensmith and her husband Ben of Hanover, and Amber D. Miller of McSherrystown, and her beloved grandchildren, Hayden and Ella Hockensmith and Ian James Riley, and aunts, uncle and cousins.  Also, she leaves behind her very much-loved Yorkie, Cooper.

A service to celebrate and remember Cindy will be held at 10:30AM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Pastor Jason Myers officiating.  Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at the funeral home.   

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Cindy's name to S.N.O.R.T. Rescue, P.O. Box 6104, Hoboken, NJ 07030, or to the York County S.P.C.A., 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
