Constance "Connie" L. Zumbrum

Constance “Connie” L. (Danner) Zumbrum, 82, of Hanover, PA entered God’s eternal care, Friday, May 5, 2023, at SpiriTrust Lutheran - The Village at Sprenkle Drive – Skilled Care Center in York, PA.

Born March 14, 1941, in Westminster, MD, she was the daughter of the late O. Marie Wampler Utermahlen. Connie was the loving wife of the late Dean E. Zumbrum.

Connie graduated from Westminster High School in 1959, earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Frostburg State Teachers College in 1963. She earned her masters’ equivalency from various colleges and taught in the Carroll County Public School System at Sandymount Elementary School for 32 ½ years. Most of these years, she taught 2nd grade, which she found especially fulfilling. Early in her retirement years she was an occasional substitute teacher, a sewing assistant, and a volunteer for the Hanover Red Cross. She enjoyed reading, coloring, doing puzzles, birdwatching, eating out, and especially being with family, friends, and neighbors.

Connie is survived by her children, Christopher S. Zumbrum and his wife, Shelley, of Hanover, Carol A. Haynes and her husband Ellis, of Lake St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Ashley Peterman and husband Justin of Dillsburg, PA and Lindsay Amspacher and husband Adam of York, PA; a great-grandson, Jaxton Peterman; sister, Marcy Haven of Hanover, PA; sisters-in-law, Donna Utermahlen of Taneytown, MD, Joyce Barnhart and husband Denton of Littlestown, PA and Judy Rummel and husband Ronald of Hanover, PA, , brother-in-law Jeffrey Zumbrum and wife Judy of Hanover, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to remember and celebrate Connie’s life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the funeral home. The burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
