Dale L. Sullivan

Dale L. Sullivan, 79, of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully, September 8, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.

Born May 10, 1946, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late David L. and Hazel R. (Berwager) Sullivan.  Dale was the loving husband of Linda H. (Horning) Sullivan, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Dale was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren, Hanover, PA, and served as a past treasurer and member of the church board, and sang in the church choir.

Dale was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Dale graduated from Eichelberger High School, Class of 1964, the last class to graduate from that school building.  He began his employment at Black & Decker, and worked for Hanover House, Benn’s Clothing in the North Hanover Mall, Utz Quality Foods, and also owned and operated Hanover Copy Center.  He later worked for Hanover Candy before retiring.

Dale was a member of the Hanover VFW and the Hanover American Legion.

Dale loved fishing, and was an avid sports fan of the Orioles, Ravens, PSU, and WVU.  He played softball and enjoyed pitching, and playing cards with his 500 and poker clubs.  Dale was quite versed in Hanover’s History and the Hanover Church of the Brethren History. 

In addition to his loving wife, Linda, Dale is survived by his children, Jason A. Sullivan, Erin L. Sullivan, and Megan E. Sullivan and husband Bruce Sugden; and a granddaughter, Abigail E.V. Sugden.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Nevin H. Sullivan.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Dale will be held 11AM, Monday, September 15, 2025, at Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA, with his pastor the Rev. Mark Bowyer officiating.  Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard providing Military Honors.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11AM, Monday, September 15, 2025, at the church.
