David E. Gordon went to be with our Lord, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his 3 girls and their husbands.
David was the loving husband of the late Sonya A. “Sonnie” (Hudson) Gordon with whom he shared 57 years of marriage until her passing on March 1, 2016.
Born June 12, 1939, in Homer, NY, he was the son of the late Osborn “Bud” and Leta “Gus” (Goodale) Gordon.
David was a graduate of Eichelberger High School. He served his country proudly in The U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960 as Boilerman 2nd class and during the Cuban Crisis. He remained in the Reserves until 1963. Upon his discharge, David was the owner and operator of David E. Gordon Painting, for 48 years.
David was a member of First Church of Hanover, the Hanover Arcadian Club, The Hanover Elks Lodge #763, Hanover Republican Club, McSherrystown Home Association, former Member and Past President of the Hanover Jaycees and Penn Township Lions Club. He was also one of the original committee members to form the Hanover YMCA.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and crabbing on the Bay with his family, and most of all being with his children, grandchildren and great granddaughters.
David is survived by three daughters – Kim and David Fink of Milton, DE, Kelly Keech and Joe Applegate of New Oxford, PA, Karol and Steve Kimple of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren, Luke and Kim Austin, Summer and Josh Fetchko, Mike and Allison Fink, Tiffany and James Shetter, Hunter Keech, Aspen Keech, Kyle and Brooke Kimple, and Ryan Kimple; eight great grandchildren, Aubree, Nora, Oaklyn, Kenzie, Sunny, Marcellus, Reese and Kane; and his siblings, Dale Gordon and Donna McMaster both of Hanover, PA, and James Gordon of Versailles, KY. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew B. Austin.
A visitation and time to share memories will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM, followed by a service led by Rev. Randal Smith, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to First Church of Hanover, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.
