David Myers Obituary

David L. Myers, 78, of Spring Grove, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, January 28, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side.

Born August 12, 1944, in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Marie R. (Wilson) Myers.  David was the loving husband of Joyce E. (Amspacher) Myers with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. 

David was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly in the Vietnam war.  He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Purple Heart.

David retired in 2011 from Growmark, formerly Codorus Fertilizer Service. 

David was a member of New Hope Fissel's United Church of Christ, Glen Rock, PA, and Susquehanna Valley Model A Restorers Club.

David was an avid gardener, hunter, and former bowler.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Joyce, David is survived by his children, Steven (fiancée Lisa) Myers, Daniel (Jamie) Myers, Carl Myers, Anne (Michael) Yurek, and Allan (Sarah) Myers, 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Nathan and Katelyn Batka, Jacob, Kayla, Danielle and Alyssa Myers, Bryce Myers, and Logan Myers; two step grandchildren, Amnesty Bednego and Brandon Yurek; 4 step great grandchildren; and eight siblings, Judy Leese, Julia Null, Earl Myers, Glenn Myers, Gloria Jean Werner, Ned Myers, Raymond Myers and Joan Leese.  He was preceded in death by one brother, William Myers.

A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the church.  A funeral service to celebrate and remember David will be held following the viewing, at the New Hope Fissel's United Church of Christ, 3426 Fissel’s Church Rd, Glen Rock, PA, with his Pastor, Rev. Peter Seiler and Scott A. Sager officiating.  Burial will be in New Hope Fissel's United Church of Christ Church Cemetery, Glen Rock, PA.  The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
