David R. Kunkel

David R. Kunkel (67) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2025.

David was born July 23, 1958 in Hanover, to the late James and Janice Rebert Kunkel.  A 1976 graduate of Hanover High School, David worked for many years at Hanover Foods as a production planner and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hanover.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Warren G. Klunk.

He is survived by his sister, Jane R. Klunk; nieces, Kate Klunk (Jared Laird) and Jenna Klunk (Matthew Mueller); a nephew, James Klunk (Chrissy); great-nieces and great-nephew, Grace Laird, James (Jak) Klunk Jr., Claire Laird, and Wren Klunk; and his companion Paulette Crook.

Watching the New York Yankees and the Las Vegas Raiders, playing card and board games, and spending time at the family cabin were a few of his favorite things.

David’s family would like to thank his caregivers who have cared for him over the many years he battled with Multiple Sclerosis.

Following cremation, the family will hold a visitation at Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA starting at 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 with a brief service and prayers to follow at 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice or St. Mark Lutheran Church, 129 Charles St. Hanover, PA 17331 where a tree will be planted in his memory.
