Delores Hartlaub Obituary

Delores passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023.  She lived a great life of 93 years with the last few years growing more difficult as she fought the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Delores Virginia Hartlaub is the daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn Flemmens. She had a sister, Flerene Martin, who is deceased.

Delores grew up on the family farm near Glen Rock where she attended Codorus Township High School. Because of her academic excellence, she was chosen to be a speaker at her graduation.

Delores is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, Harold, who she met roller skating at Forest Park in Hanover. She supported her husband’s business ventures, especially with the opening of the first Honda motorcycle dealership in the area.  Some of her favorite experiences were traveling with Harold as guests of Honda Motor Company--Japan and Hawaii were her favorites.

She is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Gary Holtzman. Delores was a very caring mother supporting her daughter’s many activities. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

She loved golfing with her many friends at the Hanover Country Club and Shadow Wood Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida, where she and Harold lived during the winter months for over 20 years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. Delores was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. She volunteered for the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary for several years. She also used her artistic talents to create many beautifully detailed oil paintings.

The family will be forever grateful to the caregivers from Brookside at Cross Keys Village and Amedisys Hospice who showed so much love and compassion to Delores.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Brookside Memory Care Unit, 225 Village Drive, New Oxford, PA 17350 or Amedisys Hospice, 984 Loucks Road, Suite 1, York, PA, 17404.
