Delores J. "Dori" Shaffer

Delores “Dori” Shaffer, 95, of New Oxford, PA, passed away peacefully at Cross Keys Village, New Oxford, PA, on Wednesday, August 6.

Born in Hanover, PA, on July 14, 1930, she is the daughter of Harold Nace and Irene (Martin) Baker. She was the loving wife of her deceased husband, Lloyd F. Shaffer, Jr., with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Dori is survived by her children, Linda Weller of Hershey, Lloyd Shaffer III (Paula) of Thomasville, Brian Shaffer (Liz Johnides) of Hanover, and Michael Shaffer (Anielka) of Hanover. Predeceased by D. Michael Weller, son-in-law.

One of her special enjoyments were her 6 grandchildren, Christopher Weller (Donna Ackerson), Stacey Weller (Eric Knapp), Layne Shaffer (Nate Weaver), Kyle Shaffer, Miranda Shaffer and Michael L. Shaffer. in addition, she was survived by her great-grandchildren Avery Weaver and Kalmia Knapp Weller.    

Dori’s favorite pastime in years past was attending all her sons’ sporting events; especially softball. She was an avid sports fan for the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. Over many years she enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her friends and more recently joining her Cross Keys Village friends on game nights.

The funeral service and burial will be held at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Abbottstown for the immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 896, Hershey, PA 17033.
