Donald L. Cheek

Donald Lee Cheek, 90, of Glenville, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Senior Commons at Powder Mill Road in York, PA.

Born December 4, 1932, in Bel Air, MD, Donald was the son of the late Lee Albert and Madge Alden (Cooper) Cheek. He was the loving husband to Ida Lou (Waters) Cheek with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Donald was a 1949 graduate of Bel Air High School in Bel Air, MD. Following high school, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

Donald worked as a systems analyst for the Social Security Administration for 25 years until his retirement in 1983.

Donald enjoyed woodworking and bowling in his free time.

In addition to his wife Ida, Donald is survived by three children, Michael Justin Cheek and wife Linda of Summerville, SC, Elizabeth Alden Wray of Glenville, PA, and David Weston Cheek and wife Deborah of Orrtanna, PA, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by two children, Amy Louise (Cheek) and Terry Lynn (Cheek), as well as his sister, Alden S. (Cheek) Jackson, and two former wives Betty June Phillips and Susan Rogers McJilton.

Following cremation, a private celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
