Donald E. Heusner, 83, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA.
Born December 2, 1937, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Earl W. and Doris E. (Zinn) Heusner.
Donald was a 1955 graduate of Hanover High School. He worked for the U.S. Department of Health, Education, & Welfare and upon retiring worked part time at Bell Socialization Services.
Donald was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. He enjoyed traveling and working with special needs adults.
Surviving are nieces, Lori Heusner, Lois VonSas and husband Joseph, Doris Heusner; nephew, Dean Heusner and wife Tammy; cousins, JoAnn Leonard and husband Steve, Jane Chronister and husband Mike, George “Bud” Zinn, and Betty Pettit; sister-in-law, Pamela Heusner, and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale W. Heusner and one sister, Diane E. Heusner.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Brethren Home, especially Deb and Dusty for the wonderful care given to Donald over the years. They would also like to thank Tina from the Hospice program of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove who was with him as he was dying.
A service to remember and celebrate Donald’s life will be held at 10:40 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery Stone Chapel, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor, the Rev. M. David Kiel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA. Masks must be worn and social distancing practiced.
Serving as casketbearers will be Dean Heusner, Joseph VonSas, Matthew VonSas, Steve Leonard, Joseph Leonard and Michael Leonard.
Contributions may be made in honor of Donald to the Hospice Program of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
