Dorothy K. Barnes

Dorothy K. Barnes, 103, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center. 

Born November 6, 1920, in New Windsor, MD, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Julia M. (Husselbaugh) Kress.  Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Wilmer L. Barnes who died December 25, 2009.

Dorothy was a graduate of Westminster High School.  She was a member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, Taneytown, MD.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Wilmer L. Barnes of Seven Valleys, PA, and Byron D. Barnes of Gettysburg, PA, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Trudy Mills and three siblings, Mamie Kress, Woodrow Kress, and Harry Kress.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Dorothy’s life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, 4699 Teeter Road, Taneytown, MD with her Pastor the Rev. Stan Diehl officiating.  Burial will be in Piney Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Taneytown, MD.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 – 11 AM, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the church.
