Earl W. King

Earl William King, 71, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.

Born December 20, 1949, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Earl L. King and Nancy (Jacoby) Sanders.  Earl was the loving husband of Julie A. (Marchio) King with whom he recently celebrated being together for 40 years and married for 37 years.

Earl was a 1967 graduate of New Oxford High School, New Oxford, PA.  He was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Army Commendation Medal, 2 O/S Bars and the Sharpshooter Badge.

Earl was a life member of the East Berlin VFW, the Hanover Moose Lodge #227, the Hanover Republican Club, and the New Oxford Social Club.

Earl was the owner of American Hobbies for thirty years until his retirement in 2008.  His life was his hobby shop, and he enjoyed boating and spending time with his family.

Earl is survived by two sons, Ryan King and his wife Andrea of Hanover, PA, Cory King and his wife Jamie of Dillsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Jocelynn Eger stationed at Ft. Carson, Taylor King of Littlestown, PA, Ashlynn Smith of York Springs, PA, Olivia King, and Connor King; one great granddaughter, Addlynn Britton; two sisters, Susanne Nelson and husband Mark, and Mariam King; and three brothers, Harold King and wife Lillian, Jeff King and wife Betty, and Jay King.  He was preceded in death by five siblings, Barb Groft, Terry King, Richard King, Mark King, and James King.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Earl's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Water Street, Abbottstown, PA with the Rev. Shawn Berkebile officiating.  Burial will be in the East Berlin Cemetery, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail Providing Military Honors.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cory King, Ryan King, Jocelynn Eger, Kevin McNew, Rob Capetta, and Joe Wheeler, and honorary pallbearer, Connor King.
