Earl F. Blettner Obituary

Earl Francis Blettner, 97, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, August 23, 2021, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA.

Born January 4, 1924, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Paul E. Sr. and Nellie I. (Markle) Blettner. Earl was the loving husband of the late Betty Louise (Fulco) Blettner, with whom he shared over 65 years of marriage until her passing on August 18, 2011

Earl was a 1942 graduate of Eichelberger High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly in World War II, fighting on Marianas Island, Saipan, where he received the Asian Pacific Theater Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Earl was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  He was a purchasing agent for Doubleday for 25 years until his retirement and then worked several years as a clerk for the Liquor Control Board.

Earl enjoyed roller skating, playing cards with his cronies, and he instilled his love of the water and boating in his children and grandchildren.  He had a love of fishing, and later in life had a vast amount of glass fish and high-end fishing equipment.  He loved shopping and had an eye for quality.

Earl is survived by his children, Pamela L. Lentz and husband David of Glen Rock, PA, Keith A. Blettner and companion Sharon Fuhrman, Kerry D. Blettner and companion Cynthia Fuhrman, Cynthia C. Harner and husband Michael and Brian A. Blettner and companion Denise Jewitt, all of Hanover, PA; nine grandchildren, Kerry Blettner Jr. of Rathdrum, ID, David Lentz Jr. of  Loudenville, OH, Christine Brammer of Kailua, HI, Chad Harner of East Berlin, PA, Adam Harner of Hanover, PA, Angela Blettner Thomas of Hanover, PA, Clinton Blettner of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Dylan Blettner of Hanover, PA, and Dalton Blettner of Hanover, PA; eleven great grandchildren, Trent Harner, Bryce Harner, Kara Blettner, Logan Blettner, Mackenzie Brammer, Cody Brammer, Emma Lentz, Eva Thomas, Elsie Thomas, Addelyn Blettner and Landon Blettner. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Blettner, Jr.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with his Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
