Elizabeth "Betty" M. Schmitt

Elizabeth “Betty” M. Schmitt, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born July 29, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Catherine (Vienna) Uphoff.  Elizabeth was the loving wife of the late Robert A. Schmitt, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage until his passing on May 29, 2010.

Elizabeth graduated from St. Michael’s Business School, Baltimore, MD.

Mrs. Schmitt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.

Elizabeth loved spending time with her family and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Denise L. Schmitt, Pamela A. Carta, and Tracey M. Schmitt, all of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, Joshua A. Turner, Jacob A. Turner, Christopher S. Loudermilk, and Nicholas R. Loudermilk; six great-grandchildren, Evelyn E. Turner, Reagan R. Turner, Emerson L. Turner, Lucas J. Loudermilk, Addison M. Loudermilk, and Camdyn C. Carta; and two sisters, Mary B. Minoglio and Helen F. Patti. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 PM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Father Cole Mase as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at the church.
