Ellen V. Whitmore

Ellen Virginia Whitmore, 72, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at home.

Born September 22, 1951, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry Martin and Pauline (Garrett) Hege.  Ellen was the loving wife of Harold Andrew Whitmore, Jr., with whom she shared 51 years of marriage, until his death January 28, 2022.  

Ellen was a bakery manager and cake decorator for all her life. She worked at Winn Dixie Marketplace in Florida, and later many different places, always serving in the bakery. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Ellen is survived by her two sons, Harold Andrew Whitmore, III, of Hummelstown, PA and Kenneth Edward Whitmore & wife Jodi Lynn of Hanover, PA. Ellen also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Katlyn Sterner, Stephanie Whitmore, Adam Whitmore, Ryan Whitmore, Andrew Whitmore, 3 great-grandchildren, Edith Whitmore, Esther Whitmore, and Niklaus Whitmore. Ellen also leaves behind six siblings, James Hege, Nelson Hege, Austin Hege, Sanford Hege, Lewis Hege and Anita (Hege) Josey.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
