Emory Russell Myers, 93, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center.
Born November 27, 1924, in New Oxford, PA he was the son of the late Emory R. and Anna B. (Duncan) Myers. He was the loving husband of Ruth A. (Saltzgiver) Myers, with whom he shared over seventy-one years of marriage.
Emory was a veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II as an Antiaircraft Machine Gunner. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Myers was a member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. He retired in 1991, having worked as a machinist for CAM Industries for over thirty-five years.
In addition to his loving wife, Ruth, Emory is survived by a son, Douglas R. Myers and wife Sandra of Hanover, PA; two grandchildren, Mark Myers and Matthew Myers; and three great-grandchildren, Amber Myers, Caden Myers and Ashley Myers; and one step great grandson, Hunter Morela. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wolford Myers and Clark Myers; and one sister, Lillian Dutterer.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Emory’s life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with Rev. LaDonna Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
