Esther W. Ells

Esther Werning Ells, 92, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.

Esther was born in Starview, PA, June 28, 1931, the daughter of Clarence and Lottie (Hoover) Werning.  She graduated from the former North York High School – Class of 1949, and the former York Junior College – Class of 1951.  She held numerous secretarial positions which included medical, legal and human resources.  She was very devoted to her family.  She was an avid reader and lover of music.  She utilized her love of music as a volunteer at the Brethren Home for several years.  She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she served as a lector coordinator with her husband.

Esther was the loving wife of Stewart A. Ells with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.

In addition to her loving husband Stewart, Esther is survived by two children, Barbara Gambert (Steve) of Baltimore, MD, and Thomas Ells (Marggy) of Bluebell, PA; and four grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Werning.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
