Evelyn Marie Redding, 90, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Kingston Court Nursing and Rehab, York, PA.
Born September 14, 1934, in New Oxford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Elsie M. (Smith) Hankey. Evelyn was the loving wife of the late John A. Redding, who passed away February 11, 1987.
Evelyn was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.
Evelyn was a 1952 graduate of New Oxford High School, New Oxford, PA. She worked as a secretary for Sheppard Myers, in returns at Doubleday, Inc., and at Weis Markets in the produce department.
Evelyn enjoyed weekend shopping trips, bus trips with friends and family, gardening, canning vegetables, watching NASCAR, listening to music especially country, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing slot machines at Hollywood Casino.
Evelyn is survived by three children, Patti A. Redding-Shenberger and husband Bryan Shenberger of East Berlin, Cindy J. Redding-Watson and husband Bob Watson of Burbank, CA, and Robert A. Redding of York, PA; three grandchildren, Sarah Wentz, Ryan Redding, and Shane Redding; two great-grandchildren, Zephyr and Story. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ralph E. Hankey, Clair A. Hankey, Ruth V. Laughman, Betty M. Horn, Frieda Hankey Barr, and Margaret C. Snyder.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Evelyn will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
