Ezra D. Jarvis, 87, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Gettysburg Center.
Born June 27, 1934, in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of the late William I. and Iva (McGlaughlin) Jarvis. Ezra was the loving husband of the late Mary C. (Masenheimer) Jarvis with whom he shared 44 years of marriage until her passing on February 12, 1997.
Ezra was a truck driver, and drove for himself as well as for Hanover Brands, R. H. Crawford, and Sterner Trucking until his retirement. He was a volunteer fire policeman with the former the Bonneauville Fire Company which is now United Hook and Ladder.
Ezra enjoyed hunting, working on tractors and vehicles, welding, and loved to tinker in his garage.
Ezra is survived by his children: Steven W. Jarvis of Hanover, Jeffrey A. Jarvis and wife Sharon of Hanover, Randy L. Jarvis of Hanover, Terry L. Jarvis and wife Vicky of New Oxford, Ronald E. Jarvis of New Oxford, Troy S. Jarvis and wife Wendy of York, and Vicki A. Miller of New Oxford; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucy Heffelfinger and husband George of Dillsburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Ezra will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Doug Hahn officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, New Chester, PA.
