Frank P. Thurston, 91, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Monday, February 5, 2024, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Long View, Manchester, MD.
Born November 1, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Roy C. and Mary J. (McAlister) Thurston. Frank was the loving husband of Mary R. (Stamm) Thurston with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.
Frank served his country proudly as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.
Frank worked as a machinist for McCormick & Co., for many years until his retirement in 1995.
Frank enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to music, and playing his guitar.
In addition to his loving wife Mary, Frank is survived by his children, John Thurston, Sherrie Gregory, Timothy Thurston, and Michael Thurston, all of Manchester, MD, Tracy Taylor of Marriottsville, MD, and Dana Danson of Hanover, PA; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
A funeral to celebrate and remember Frank will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Deacon Tom Aumen officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veteran’s Honor Guard providing Military Honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 AM-11 AM, Friday, February 9, 2024, at the funeral home.
