Fred C. Brown

Fred Charles Brown, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA, with his loving wife by his side.

Born July 21, 1934, in Hanover, PA, he was son of the late Charles L. and Fredyth H. (Mehring) Brown. Fred was the loving husband of Janet Lee M. (Landis) Brown with whom he shared sixty-five years of marriage.

Fred was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly as a Captain.

Fred was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, McSherrystown, PA, the Train Collectors Association since 1976, and served as a leader and volunteer with the Boy Scout Troop at St. Joseph’s.

Fred was a 1952 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. He graduated from Gettysburg College, earning a BS in business. Fred retired in 1996 from Doubleday Company where he was a Human Resources Manager and held many other management positions for thirty-five years.

Fred was well known for his train collection and his layouts and many looked forward to seeing them. He enjoyed the beach and his family vacations to the Outer Banks. He was a skilled woodworker, making benches, shelves and other furniture.

In addition to his loving wife, Janet Lee, Fred is survived by his children, Angela M. Jones and husband David of Colville, Washington, Neil D. Brown and wife Nicole of Palmhurst, TX, and Amy E. Sperry and husband Joseph of Ashland, VA; six grandchildren, Lexi Baxter Weatherman, Sara Brown Del-Pozo, Emily Brown Bellusci, Amanda Sperry Rowe, Jenny Sperry, and Katie Sperry; and three great grandchildren, Simon, Asher, and Grant. He was preceded in death by a son, Blaine C. Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Friday, September 24, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Monsignor James M. Lyons as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Friday, September 24, 2021, at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred's name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
