G. Eileen Grothey

G. Eileen Grothey, 95, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.

Born December 14, 1926, in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Elsie M. (Workinger) Waltimyer.  Eileen was the loving wife of the late Charles E. “Ed” Grothey with whom she shared 64 years of marriage until his passing on August 3, 2014.

Eileen was a member of St. Bartholomew’s United Church, ELCA, Hanover, PA.  She was a 1945 graduate of William Penn High School and attended Thompson Business School.

Eileen worked in retail and was homemaker. 

Eileen is survived by her children, Michael A. Grothey and wife Terrie of Dover, PA, Kenneth A. Grothey and wife Anna of Hanover, PA, three grandchildren, SaraBeth Fulton, Kaitlin Collignon, and Kyle Grothey, and eight great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two children, Yvonne E. Wanbaugh and David E. Grothey.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Eileen may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
