Garey R. Fritz

Garey R. Fritz, 70, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Monday, January 20, 2025, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Born August 21, 1954, in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Warehime) Fritz.  Garey was the loving husband of Janet L. (Elseroad) Fritz with whom he shared forty-nine years of marriage.

Garey was a 1972 graduate of Westminster High School, Westminster, MD.  He was a tool and die maker for over fifty years, working for Black and Decker, Burndy, Amp/Tyco, BAE Systems and C.T.E.

Garey was a Clearview Fire Department volunteer member for many years before hanging up his turnout gear to become a proud SW marching band dad. Garey enjoyed hunting, collecting toy tractors, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Janet, Garey is survived by his daughter, Tammy L. Fritz of Hanover; his brother, William Fritz and his wife Paula of Silver Run, MD; In-laws Ray and Dorothy Johns, Bobby and Donna Elseroad; Nieces Heather Myers and her family; Holly Fritz and her family; and Ginger Elseroad.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Garey will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier officiating.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1:00PM-2:00PM, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the funeral home.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hanover Fire & Rescue Commission, P.O. Box 1292, Hanover, PA 17331.
