Gary L. Starner

Gary L. Starner, 81, of New Oxford, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Born August 6, 1943, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Miles J., Jr  and Ruthanna R. (Swartz) Starner. Gary was the loving husband of Gladys M. (Ginter) Starner with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of South Western High School, the very first graduating class.  He worked as a computer programmer with Hanover Foods for twenty-nine years, and for Utz Quality Foods for ten years until his retirement.

Gary was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.           

Gary enjoyed bowling, playing pool, camping, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife Gladys, Gary is survived by two children, Tammy S. Becker and husband Scott of Hanover, PA, and Christine M. Stallings and husband Christopher of Marietta, PA; and four grandchildren, Drew and Aaron Becker, and Madison and Jordan Stallings.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Gary's life will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 - 11 AM, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gary may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or the Good Samaritan Fund of the Brethren Home 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
