George H. Luers, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his home in Hanover, PA. He was the son of the late George T. and Genevieve E. Luers, and was born in Baltimore, MD. He was the loving husband of Shirley “Sheri” (Gilbert) Luers for 30 years.
George worked as a crane operator with the Operating Engineers in both Maryland and Pennsylvania for a combined total of 55 years.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his two sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Zaldivar and husband Ronald, of New Freedom, PA, Ann Reese of Hanover, PA, and his brother Joseph Luers and his wife Susan of Red Lion, PA. He is also survived by stepdaughters Katrina Sprague and her husband Kevin, Victoria Schoberg and her husband Christopher, and stepson Andrew Haischer. Survivors also include daughters Karen Alexander and her husband Craig, and Sharon Rhoton and her husband Brian. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Eric, Cheyenne, Savannah, David, Eliana, and Anastasia, and many nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his brothers William T. Luers of California and his stepson Steven Haischer of Littlestown, PA.
George really enjoyed watching all the old western movies and shows, as John Wayne was his favorite. He loved being with and talking to people and would talk to just about anyone. He passionately loved his family and was always ready to help them.
