George H. Dement, 81, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Friday, March 27, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side.
Born September 9, 1944, in Corbett, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and May C. (Busler) Dement. Herb was the loving husband of Peggy J. (Masemore) Dement with whom he shared sixty-one years of marriage.
Herb was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hanover, PA, Hanover Home Association, McSherrystown Fish and Game, McSherrystown Home Association and a former member of Penn Township Lions Club
Herb was a 1962 graduate of Hereford High School, Parkton, MD. He was a machinist at Ridge Engineering for 26 years until his retirement.
In addition to his loving wife, Peggy, Herb is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Brown of Hanover, PA, and Jennifer L. Holt (Dave) of Littlestown, PA; Grandchildren Amber Boyer, Abbey Potts (Brian), Nathaniel Holt; and Great Grandchildren Rylee, Drake, Levi, Maci and Nichole. Siblings, Earl Dement (Elaine) ; Catherine Bosley (Robert); Ann Dement
Known to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Herbie” he never missed an opportunity go to their sporting events or to spend time with them.
Following cremation, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The Family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Tina Khair and her staff for their thoughtful care over the last five years. A special thank you to the VNA Hospice team for their wonderful care.
