Georgia B. “Georgie” Yelton, 93, passed away peacefully early Friday, April 4th, 2025 at Hanover Hall in the Hospice division. Born June 26th, 1931 in Bakersville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Jones and Vergie Childers Jones.
Georgia married the love of her life, Oliver A. Yelton, WWII veteran, on October 26th, 1946 and were happily married until his death in 1988. Georgia retired from Sweetheart Cup Company, formerly known as Maryland Cup Inc. of Owings Mills, MD, in 1996 after 30 years of service.
Georgia enjoyed sewing and crocheting and giving her creations made with all the love in her heart to her family and friends. Georgia volunteered her time at Kingsdale Fire Company for a brief period, also donating her creations for fundraisers held by the fire company. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Georgia will be deeply missed by her family.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver A Yelton of Taneytown, MD, son, Larry David Yelton Sr. of Thomasville, PA, granddaughter, Duffy J. Loveless of Hanover, PA, her sisters, Helen Irene Yelton of Hampstead, MD and Marybelle Childers of Morganton, NC, grandson-in-law, Sterling Richard “Rick” Fritz Jr., and great grandchild Megan Noel Fritz of Hanover, PA.
Georgia is survived by her brother, Teddy Joe Jones (wife Shirley), of Taylorsville, NC, her daughter, Betty Sue “Cricket” Yelton of Hanover, PA; three granddaughters: Christina M. Hohenbrink (Husband Karl), of York, Alicia J. Fritz of Hanover, and Jennifer L. Brown (Husband Charles), of Hanover; one grandson: Larry David “Dave” Yelton Jr. (wife Traci), of Hanover; great grandchildren: Ashley N. Lewis, Justin M. Fritz, Michelle L. Lockard, Danielle L. Brown, Taylor A. Bennett, William M. Houff, Ivy R. Fritz, Alyssa D. Bennett, Kendall Holst, Jacob T. “Jake” Yelton, Emily “Emmy” Yelton, Cody Yelton, Chase Yelton, Josh Truax, Taylor.
Truax, Courtney Truax, Breanna Truax, Timothy Truax, Brian Yelton, Robin Loveless, and Zachary Loveless and numerous great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends can pay their respects at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10th, 2025 with service to follow from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions have been asked to go to Betty Sue Yelton, 219 York Street, Apt. 1F4, Hanover, PA 17331 to help defray funeral costs.
