Gladys Margaret Bankert, 97, of Seven Valleys, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Providence Place Nursing Center, Dover, PA.
Born April 10, 1924, in Pikesville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beulah M. (Burkins) Barnett. Gladys was the loving wife of the late Donald R. Bankert with whom she shared 58 years of marriage until his passing on July 28, 2019.
Gladys retired from R & J Sewing Factory with over 30 years of service until her retirement in 1986.
Gladys was a member of St. Paul’s Dubs United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, where she was a member of the Lay-Life & Work Group. She also belonged to the Farm Women’s Group #18 and the Hanover Moose Lodge #227.
Gladys is survived by one sister, Mary Yether of York, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Kay Miller, three brothers, Gordon Holtzman, Richard Holtzman, Eugene Holtzman, and three sisters, Betty Lilley, Grace Parrish, and Dorothy Cummings.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Gladys’ life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Susan Fritz officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
