Harry L. Baumgardner, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Monday, September 11, 2023,at UPMC Hanover.
Born November 20, 1933, in West Manheim Township in the stone house which is now Black Rock Lodge along Black Rock Road in Codorus State Park.
Harry was the son of the late Harry R. and Kathryn (Strausbaugh) Baumgardner. Harry was the loving husband of Machree (Rohrbaugh) Baumgardner with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Harry was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Dubs United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, and also a member of the Sunday School. He also served on the church consistory and the cemetery board. Harry helped build the Conway Runkle Annex in 1996.
Harry retired from Emeco Industries in 1996 after 35 years.
He enjoyed going to church and Sunday School, farming and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed watching weather reports on TV and attending public sales in the past. He had a good memory and enjoyed talking about things of the past. He liked hearing and speaking PA Dutch which he could speak very well. He especially enjoyed being with his family at gatherings.
In addition to his loving wife Machree, Harry is survived by five children, Karen (Paul) Christian, Barry (Deb) Baumgardner, Luann (Dave) Myers, Joyce (Steve) Sager, and Lamar (Sharon) Baumgardner; seven grandchildren, Jill (Josh) Lawrence, Matthew (Stephanie) Myers, Larry (Erin) Baumgardner, Sarah (Josh) Bressler, Kelly (Phil) Cote, Kara Christian, and Kelsey (Scott) Kuntz; ten great-grandchildren, Claire and Leah Lawrence, Mikalya, Aubrey, and Aidan Myers, Gavin and Garrett Baumgardner, Elias Bressler, Max Cote, and Isaiah Christian; one sister, Fran Hoover; and a sister-in-law, Joann Rohrbaugh.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Harry will be held 11AM, Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Paul’s Dubs UCC, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Susan Fritz officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be from 9:30AM-11AM, Friday, September 15, 2023, at the church
