Ira Adelbert Stanton Jr, 78, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Monday, May 17, 2021, at home.
Born July 23, 1942, in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ira Adelbert and Eunice Frances (McMenamen) Stanton. Ira was the loving husband of the late Sherry Lee (Fischbach) Stanton who died May 31, 1986.
Ira was a veteran and served his country proudly as a United States Marine, reaching the rank of Corporal. Ira worked for Esskay as a truck driver, later served as a Patient-Client Driver for Springfield Hospital, and retired from the State of Maryland. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and The Republican Club of Hanover.
Ira was a sports fan. He enjoyed powerwalking and spending time with his loving family and friends.
Ira is survived by his two children, Kimberly Stanton of Littlestown, PA, and Timothy Stanton of Hanover, PA. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Cory Stanton, Madison Stanton, and Jenna Stanton. Ira is survived by one brother, Guy Stanton of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate Ira’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, May 21, 2021 at Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331, with the Reverend Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, May 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
