Irvin Leonard Weinberg, 79, entered the Lord’s eternal care, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at WellSpan York Hospital.
Born, November 29, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, Irvin was son of the late Louis and Lillian (Feinberg) Weinberg. Irvin was the loving husband to Barbara Ann (Gill) Weinberg with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Irvin graduated from City High School in Baltimore, MD. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the US Air Force.
Irvin was a member of Wellspring Wesleyan Church, in Hanover, PA.
Most recently, Irvin had been a district newspaper manager at the Frederick News Post, formerly at the Baltimore Post, and had delivered pharmaceuticals for Choice Family Pharmacy, in McSherrystown, PA.
Irvin enjoyed bowling in the Afternoon Senior Citizen’s League and the Thursday Night Social League at the Hanover Bowling Center. He also loved going to the movies, attending air shows, going on tours at snack factories, exploring the history of the Gettysburg Battlefield, and spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren. He liked watching birds, appreciating nature, and was also very passionate about generosity to others, often giving money to many different charities.
In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Irvin is survived by his children, Melisa D. Hannon & her husband, DJ, of Hanover, PA, and Jason M. Weinberg & his wife, Hayley, of New Oxford, PA. Irvin leaves behind five grandchildren, Kameron Weinberg, Marrissa Hannon, Kara Hannon, Gavin Weinberg, and Makenzi Hannon, one great grandchild, Lucas McGregor, and a sister, Elaine Blum of Boca Raton, FL. Irvin was preceded in death by his brother Elliot Weinberg and sister Zelda Richards.
Following donation of his body to science, a celebration of life to honor and remember Irvin, will be held at 1PM, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 66 E. Hanover Street, (Bonneauville) Gettysburg, PA 17325, with his pastor the Reverend Jerry Beers officiating. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Visitation and time to share memories with the family will be from 12PM to 1PM, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the funeral home.
