James J. Held, 79, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Friday, January 1, 2021 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg, PA.
Born June 23, 1941 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Meyers) Held. James was the loving husband of Karen (Crawford) Held with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.
James was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, Hampstead, MD.
James received his B.S. in Business from the University of Baltimore. He was a sales rep for the Maryland Casualty Company and for the last 30 years was a salesman for various reprographic printing companies. He also taught jazz history at John Hopkins Free University.
James served his country proudly in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed watching any sports, was an Orioles and Ravens fan, loved horses and attended the Preakness regularly, loved bar-b-ques, and sharing stories with anyone he met. He also collected coins, stamps, and baseball cards.
In addition to his wife Karen, James is survived by his children, Sarah E. Held and husband Alex Turner of Gettysburg, PA, Robert F. Held and wife Katrina of Berlin Germany, and a grandchild that will be arriving shortly. He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Held, Jr.
Following cremation, services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
