James E. Laughman, Sr., 72, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care Sunday, July 12, 2026, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Born July 7, 1954, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Leo T. and Mary H. (Riffle) Laughman. James was the loving husband of Mary J. (Kaiser) Laughman with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
James was a heavy equipment operator with Eastern Soil for many years until his retirement.
James loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary, James is survived by his children, Cathy J. Shaeffer and husband Rany, Jamie L. Paugh and husband Thomas, James E. Laughman, Jr., and Robert M. Laughman and wife Lisa; 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Leo T. Laughman and wife Wendy, Eugene T. Laughman and wife Faye Ann, and Nancy L. Laughman. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Angel Lease; a sister, Shirley M. Laughman; and a son-in-law, Robert A. Lease.
A funeral to celebrate and remember James will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 2-4PM, Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the funeral home.
