James M. Burdis, 62, of Gettysburg, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, January 9, 2026 at his home.
Born August 30, 1963 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of Joseph and Blanche E. (Wilson) Burdis. James was the husband of Erin P. (Brennan) Burdis, with whom he shared 17 years of marriage.
James was a 1981 graduate of Oakland Mills High School, Columbia, MD. He worked in the automotive industry since he was 18, working as a car salesman for several area dealers including Hanover Auto Team and Younger Nissan, and as a GM for Jim Coleman. He was known by all as one of the best car salesmen ever to live.
James attended Freedom Valley Church, Gettysburg, PA.
James was an avid runner, he was a passionate Pittsburgh Steeler, Penguins and Pirates fan. He loved to cook, travel, and eat, and he enjoyed amazing French dishes at restaurants around the world. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his daughter and son, who were his world. And he is now with his dog, Henna, in Heaven.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Morgan C. Burdis of Lewes, DE, and Blanche H. Burdis of Gettysburg, PA; and his siblings, Raymond Burdis, Rita Gabel, Ronald Burdis, Roxanne Burdis, Renee Lenart, Roberta Norris, John Burdis, Kimberly Woodsmall, and Tracy Broccolino. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Joseph Burdis.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, followed by a Memorial Service at 7 PM with Pastor Gerry Stoltzfoos officiating.
