Jay Allen Wildasin Obituary

Jay Wildasin passed away peacefully in Sun City Center Florida on June 8, 2025. He was born in Hanover PA on August 3, 1934 to Raymond and Bernice (Bair) Wildasin. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jeanne Mummert Wildasin on June 21, 2006. Jay is survived by his current partner Elizabeth Murray of Sun City Center FL, two children, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His son, Brent and wife Patricia (Brenner) Wildasin of Montclair VA, grandson Brooks Wildasin of Sterling VA and granddaughter Britta (Wildasin) Phillians of Newport News VA; daughter Terri (Wildasin) Morrow and her husband Christopher Morrow of Littlestown, PA, granddaughters Allie Mack of York PA and Kelsie Mack of Littlestown. He was very proud of his four great grandsons: Bryce, Brayden, Bennett Wildasin and Teague Phillians. Jay is survived by three sisters, Judy (Wildasin) Zumbrum, Joyce (Wildasin) Stauffer, and Jerrie (Wildasin) Arter all of Hanover.

Jay graduated from Eichelberger High School in Hanover PA in 1952. While in High School, he played Varsity Football and Baseball. Throughout his life, he was a great sports fan and loved his Orioles, Tampa Rays, and his Tampa Buccaneers. He was a master mechanic that worked initially for Wildasin Motors in Hanover and served as a millwright at the Hanover Mines (Bethlehem Steel) for nearly 30 years. Throughout his career, Jay was known for his work ethic where he never missed a day of work. He also was a great husband, partner, father, and grandfather to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Throughout Jay’s life, he was a dedicated member of Lohr’s Memorial United Methodist Church in Hanover and the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center FL. At Lohr’s he participated in the Worship Choir for nearly 50 years as well as serving as a member and president of the Board of Trustees for over 15 years. In Sun City Center, he participated as a greeter and member of the community that focused on helping others. Jay was always known as a helping hand to neighbors, the community, and the service organizations he supported. He was a lifetime member of the Hanover Lodge #763 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Kiwanis Club of Hanover, the Sons of the American Legion Post 14, Arcadian Social Club of Hanover, and spent 10 years a Cavalry Sergeant in the PA National Guard in Hanover. Jay has served as the President and Vice President of his local Homeowners Association in Sun City Center.

In his retirement, Jay became an avid golfer, played “Old Man” softball, loved to travel, and spend time in his “Happy Place” in Stone Harbor New Jersey. In Jersey, he was known as the Mayor of “the Sundeck.” His jovial sense of humor made him a fixture that the homeowners and renters embraced. Throughout the 25 years he spent in Stone Harbor, there were numerous friends that included Jay in their special events.

A service to celebrate and remember Jay’s Life will be held 3 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the funeral home.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the Family in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
