Jean L. Riddle, 77, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, July 22, 2024, at UPMC Hanover Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born July 25, 1946, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter S. Beck and late Minnie (Albright) Beck Shearer. Jean was the loving wife of the late Malcolm E. Riddle who died August 16, 1984.
Jean was a member of St. David’s United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.
Jean was a 1964 graduate of Spring Grove High School. She worked at R.O. Hass Insurance, the Bank of Hanover, Hanover Direct, Hanover Hall, and Riddle’s Appliance Co., and retired from Weis Markets on Carlisle Street as a cashier.
Jean was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson, PA. She was a lifetime member of the Jefferson Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of AARP and the North Hanover Mall Walkers.
Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and doing activities. She loved talking on the phone to her family and friends.
Jean is survived by two children, a son Scott B. Riddle of Hanover, PA, and a daughter Jamie M. Garrett and husband Shawn D. of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, Melanie M. DeJesus, Drake A. Garrett, Reese R. Garrett, and Malcolm B. Myers-Riddle; four siblings, Darlene Masimore of Glen Rock, PA, Laverne Shearer and wife Glenda of Manchester, PA, Samuel Shearer and wife Holly of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Ray Shearer of Jefferson, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews, and many good friends. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Dolores Snyder and Wayne Shearer.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Jean will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. David’s UCC, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in Greenmount Cemetery, York, PA. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6-8PM, Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, and from 9-10AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the church.
