Jeannette Carbaugh Obituary

Jeannette L. Carbaugh, 86, entered into God's eternal care at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Carbaugh, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage until his passing on July 5, 2005.

Born July 4, 1939, in Hampstead, MD, she was the daughter of the late Chester G. and Lilly R. (Shaffer) Stagner. Jeannette was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover, where she participated in the Women's Group and sang in the church choir.  

Jeannette enjoyed being a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Pleasant Hill Fire Department for over 40 years, serving as president for 25 years, and ran the French fry stand at the carnival for 23 years.  She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and knitting, camping, going on cruises, and spending time with her family. 

Jeannette graduated in 1958 from North Carroll High School, Manchester, MD.  She retired from Hanover Hospital after 35 years of service,  was a home health aide with the VNA for 7 years.

Jeannette is survived by three sons, the Rev. Chester 'Chet' E. Carbaugh of Dagsboro, DE, Paul M. Carbaugh of Hanover, and Randy A. Carbaugh of Red Lion; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, and a brother, Edgar E. Stagner of Hampstead, MD.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Jeannette’s life will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA, with her Pastor the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating, with a luncheon  following the service.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00AM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the church parlor.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Jeannette's name to the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Co., 3003 Baltimore Pike, Hanover, PA 17331; St. Paul Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, PA 17331; or to the Hospice of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
